Commissioned for Fabrications: New Art & Urban Memory in Manchester, CUBE, Manchester

High Noon recreates the American western of the title but on Third Avenue in Trafford Park, an industrial estate in Manchester that has been an obsession of Carne’s for some years. Workers on the street read their part without prior rehearsal, when edited together the entire narrative is constructed but without the support of dramatic action. The disjointed effect mirrors both the fictional and real isolated communities but in both the individuals are brought together by the action of an individual, in this case Carne as director rather than Kane as Marshal.
